Wow, what a ride...

Sorry I've been out of touch for so long, folks. It's been a chaotic couple of months, but I've been having a great time.

Aside from a continued empty social calendar, life has been really booming for me this fall. I got to design new costumes and makeup for the Zombie Mambo at Lagoon (it was our tenth anniversary, and the show was due for a facelift again, anyway). Layton High called me to help with some facial hair and makeup for their production of The Crucible. And I'm working with Phil again up at the Egyptian, in Park City, on White Christmas. That's been really fun, so far, because it also gave me a chance to work with Arika...I've bumped into her a couple of times in the past few years, but this was the first time in ages where we got to spend enough time together to do more than just get caught up on current events...

It was kind of funny, because a few things for White Christmas just didn't get turned out according to plan...so, when push came to shove and people had to start racking up long nights to make it all come together, it was all USU alumni that were keeping it moving.

And once White Christmas is done, there are a couple of upcoming projects that I'm looking forward to, as well. Layton High is doing Titanic for their spring musical, and I've been asked to help with facial hair and possibly age makeup for the show--I always love doing shows there, because the kids are so enthusiastic about what they're doing. It's just energizing to work with them. And the Egyptian is doing Tommy for their late winter/early spring show...I'm not signed on for that one yet, but it is VERY tempting. I've just got to make sure I don't book so many outside projects that I don't get around to wrapping up the Lagoon projects I've got set aside.

I feel like I'm slowly carving out my own little niche here in the area...I haven't had any film projects come my way this year, but I'm tentatively helping develop a script to turn one of the shorts I worked on into a feature length (and, I'm hoping, I'll also get a chance to act in that one, as more than just an extra. We'll see...)

Thanksgiving was a little odd this year--A couple of weeks ago I was talking with my mom and younger brother and we decided to get whoever was in Logan at the time together for Thanksgiving (two of my brothers live in town but were likely going to be with in-laws for the holiday). A couple of days before Thanksgiving, my younger brother called and said that Rob would be out of town, but they were going to get together at Bruce's for dinner...but he wouldn't be there (long story and I'm not going into that one here). Thanksgiving Day, I showed up at Bruce's place, to discover that Mom wasn't there, Bruce had been called into work, his wife was asleep in bed because she'd had to work earlier that day, and Bruce's kids were just sitting around watching videos. So, I sat and chatted with my nieces and nephew for an hour or so (they're all either in theater or appreciate theater, so we had plenty to talk about), and then went to my friend's place for dinner...and got there just as they were in the middle of dessert (I'd been planning on dinner at my brother's place, after all)--so I ended up eating my Thanksgiving dinner with everyone standing around and watching me. The company was great, but it was a little strange to be a solo act for dinner...

And that's about it. The pigeon is still alive, he poops a ton and scatters bird-seed all over the floor, but it's nice to get home and have someone or something acknowledge my arrival. My horses are both healthy, the colt is growing quickly, and is still really sweet-tempered...I may end up keeping him as a stud, but we'll have to wait and see on that one. The weather has turned cold, I've hung up curtains across a couple of doorways to cut down on drafts and have electric heaters running all the time (they heat the enclosed space more effectively than the furnace does).

There's my life, in a nutshell. Good to be back, everyone.
